Ibiza vs Mallorca: Luxury Transfer Differences Explained

We operate on both Ibiza and Mallorca, so we get this question constantly: "What's the difference for getting around?" The short answer is -- quite a lot, actually. These two Balearic Islands are very different in size, road style and how transfers work. If you're planning a trip to one or both, here's the real picture.

Two Very Different Airports

Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) is massive -- third busiest in Spain, over 30 million passengers a year, two terminals, the works. Ibiza Airport (IBZ) is compact and easy to navigate, though it gets very busy in summer. We do meet-and-greet arrivals at both with Mercedes vehicles.

Distances -- This Is the Big One

Mallorca is a much larger island. A transfer from PMI to Alcudia is about 50 minutes. Reaching the Four Seasons Formentor takes over an hour. Some south-coast destinations are 40+ minutes too. In Ibiza? Nothing is more than about 30 minutes from the airport. That changes everything -- pricing, timing, which vehicle you need.

The Roads

Mallorca has proper motorways connecting the airport to major resort areas. But the Tramuntana mountain roads? Narrow, winding, and not for the faint-hearted. Ibiza doesn't have motorways at all -- just well-maintained secondary roads winding through villages. Both islands are much better with a local chauffeur who knows the shortcuts and the spots where tour buses cause hold-ups.

Which Mercedes?

On both islands we run Mercedes V-Class, S-Class and Sprinter vehicles. In Mallorca, the V-Class dominates airport transfers because you need the luggage space for those longer trips. In Ibiza, where drives are shorter, people tend to go for the S-Class -- it's a bit more intimate, and it fits the island's mood.

Doing Both Islands in One Trip

Lots of our clients split their holiday between Mallorca and Ibiza. We handle the whole thing with one booking: we drive you from your Mallorca hotel to the airport or ferry port, and a different vehicle is already waiting when you land in Ibiza. One WhatsApp thread, one contact person, sorted.

So Which Island?

Mallorca is for people who want depth -- mountain villages, cultural weight, proper gastronomy, and longer stays at serious five-star hotels. Ibiza is for the beach club crowd, late nights, and a more compact island where everything feels close. A lot of guests do three or four days on each, which we think is the sweet spot. Either way, we've got you covered on the ground.
