Deià sits high on a hillside above the Mediterranean, right in the middle of the Serra de Tramuntana. It's been attracting artists, writers, and musicians for well over a hundred years -- the English poet Robert Graves moved here in 1929 and never left. You can see why. The houses are honey-coloured stone, there are ancient olive terraces climbing the slopes, and the cliffs drop straight down to the sea. It's still got that creative, slightly bohemian feel, but it's also become one of Mallorca's most exclusive spots. Belmond La Residencia is here, along with a handful of smaller boutique hotels. Now, the drive from Palma Airport to Deià is beautiful, but the mountain roads aren't for everyone, especially after a flight. The Ma-1110 through the Serra de Tramuntana has hairpin bends and some narrow sections -- it's a mountain road, so it's not a motorway. But our chauffeurs drive it every day and know every curve. It's perfectly safe in our Mercedes vehicles, and the scenery is genuinely some of the best in Europe.
For families or anyone with a lot of luggage, the Mercedes V-Class is the best pick -- it's stable and comfortable on winding roads.
