Alcudia is up on the northern tip of Mallorca, where the Bay of Alcudia curves into some of the best beaches you'll find anywhere in the Mediterranean. There's the walled medieval Old Town with its Tuesday and Sunday markets, the resort strip of Port d'Alcudia packed with restaurants and shops, and then Playa de Muro -- which consistently gets ranked as one of Europe's top beaches, and for good reason. Families love it here because the water stays shallow for ages and the waves are gentle. The S'Albufera Nature Reserve is right behind the dunes if you fancy some birdwatching.
