If you're booked at the Four Seasons Resort Formentor, you've already got good taste. The property sits on the Cap de Formentor peninsula in northern Mallorca -- wild cliffs, pine forests, that kind of view that makes you just stand there for a minute. But getting there? That's a story in itself.
The Drive from Palma Airport
From Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI), it takes roughly 65 minutes. The first 45 minutes are straightforward -- you take the Ma-13 motorway north through Mallorca's flat central plain, past Inca, skirting the edge of the Tramuntana mountains. At Alcudia, you turn towards Pollensa and pick up the Ma-2210 peninsula road.
That's where things get interesting.
The Peninsula Road
The last 20 minutes are hands-down one of the most beautiful drives in Europe. But also one of the most nerve-racking if you're behind the wheel for the first time. The road narrows and winds through Aleppo pine forest with some serious cliff drops on either side. Hairpin bends, blind corners, the occasional tour bus coming the other way.
Honestly? After a long flight, this is not a road you want to be driving yourself. Our chauffeurs do this route multiple times a week and know every turn by heart. You get to sit back and watch the Mediterranean appear through the trees.
Why Book a Private Transfer
There's something a bit deflating about arriving at a place like the Four Seasons after wrestling with a rental car on unfamiliar mountain roads. A private transfer from Palma Airport means your chauffeur meets you at arrivals, takes your bags, and gets you to the resort lobby feeling relaxed. WiFi, bottled water and child seats come with every booking -- you don't need to ask.
Getting Back to the Airport
We'll pick you up from the resort for your return to PMI. Our advice: leave at least two hours before your flight. The drive itself is about an hour, and you'll want some breathing room for check-in.
Day Trips from Formentor
The location is brilliant for exploring the north of Mallorca. We can take you to the Formentor Lighthouse (the views from the end of the peninsula are unreal), Pollensa Old Town for the Sunday market, the long sandy beaches at Alcudia, or the ancient monastery up at Lluc. Just book a half-day or full-day chauffeur and tell us what you're interested in -- we'll work out the route.
